What it tends to be about
Sagittarius is the sign of meaning, distance and the big picture. Saturn there asks for a belief you've actually lived, and a direction you'll still be walking in ten years.
People in this return often describe questions about direction. What do I believe because I've tested it, and what did I just inherit? Where am I going, and is it mine?
Why it lasts years, not days
Saturn takes about 29 years to circle the zodiac and moves slowly enough to cross the same degree up to three times as it goes retrograde and direct again. Your exact passes depend on the degree Saturn held on the day you were born, which is why two people born a year apart get different dates.
It's the pattern Saturn in Sagittarius points at. Moving on is how you stay free, and the return asks what you'd be if you stayed. Not forever, but long enough for something to grow.
It doesn't tell you to do anything, and this page won't predict it. What the return asks is whether your sense of direction is yours or borrowed. Some people answer that on the other side of the world; some answer it at their kitchen table.
Often, yes. Sagittarius runs on conviction, and Saturn tests it until only the lived part is left. That can feel like losing something. What usually comes back is smaller, slower and yours.
